This paper examines the similarities and differences in use of rhetorical citations research articles two journal publication contexts field Applied Linguistics, namely Indonesian Journals aimed at a local audience, International global audience. Fifty Discussion Sections from published were taken contexts. Results analysis indicate dominant integral especially verb-controlling type corpus. It is suggested that this citation requires less demand on synthesising various sources cited while corpus make greater non-integral which indicates succinct synthesis sources.
